The Raimo’s Story
Raimo’s history started long ago when Papa Frank and Mamma Sarina came to the United States with their children from Messina, Italy. Like many European people of their generation, Frank and Sarina learned that America was the land of promise and that they would have a good chance to better their life. So in the early 1970’s, they began their long journey and settled on Long Island. Back in Italy, Frank and Sarina both had grown up in the “trattoria business,” therefore when they came to New York, they were able to get jobs in restaurants. They worked very hard for many years and together with their grown children, opened the first Raimo’s Restaurant & Pizzeria in Freeport, N.Y. One thing the family kept in mind was to do things better and different than all other restaurants, and that was to offer the finest quality of authentic Italian food and hospitality. Today, Raimo’s is known for certain signature dishes such as “Pasta ai Gamberetti,” “Veal Rollatini,” “Focaccia pizza” and many more delicacies which originated back in Frank and Sarina’s hometown of Messina. They are proud of their accomplishments and hope to carry on the family tradition for generations to come.
